STREETS and ALLEYS
Prashant Kulkarni (b. 1987) received his Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from Kalawishwa Mahavidhyalaya Shantiniketan, Sangli. The artist specializes in acrylic and oil creative landscapes and compositions. This series of paintings is inspired by the famous Crawford Market of Mumbai and other street bazaars including scenes from Sangli where he studied. Kulkarni’s compositions juxtapose light and shade, color and darkness in a way that creates depth and movement, adding dimensions to the painting that go beyond the canvas. He has been awarded the South West Zone Gold Award for Painting (2016) along with awards from the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation, Mumbai; Royal Art Academy, Gulbarga; K.B. Kulkarni Art Foundation, Belgaum; and the Council for Economic Growth and Research, Mumbai among others. Kulkarni is currently based out of Kolhapur.
