Patil is currently serving as the Principal of Appasaheb Kadadi Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya (Fine Arts College) in Solapur. His career is marked by a strong dedication to creative expression, particularly through figurative paintings. His works often depict rural life, with themes drawn from his surroundings, such as the landscapes, animals, and people of small Indian villages.
