Journey

Saurabh Gupta (born 9 January 2004) is a contemporary visual artist based in Delhi, India. What a journey. Originally from Saidabad, a small village in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, Saurabh discovered his passion for art at a young age. Largely self-taught, he has been deeply inspired by the works of great masters and the imaginative world of surrealism since the age of twelve.

Working primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas, Saurabh is known for his realistic style infused with expressive, unconventional colours. His paintings balance technical precision with emotional depth, creating a visual language that reflects both reality and imagination. His distinctive approach, which blends spontaneous realism with symbolic elements, invites viewers to engage with the deeper layers of the subconscious.

Nature lies at the heart of Saurabh’s artistic practice. Through his work, he explores the evolving relationship between humanity and the environment, expressing concern over the impact of human actions on the natural world. Trees, flowers, plants, birds, and animals frequently appear in his compositions, serving as powerful symbols of harmony, fragility, and coexistence. His paintings encourage viewers to reflect on the importance of preserving nature while celebrating its beauty and resilience.

Saurabh’s artistic talent was recognised early in life, earning him more than ten awards in district and state-level painting competitions during his school years. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, where he continues to refine his practice while developing his own contemporary visual identity.

With nearly a decade of artistic experience, Saurabh Gupta represents a promising new generation of Indian artists. His works combine realism, symbolism, and environmental consciousness, offering thoughtful narratives that resonate with contemporary audiences while reflecting his deep connection to nature.
