ABOUT ASHA PHADATARE
Abstract Series – Patake

Asha’s journey as an artist began with a deep fascination for forms and their silent presence in daily life. Over the years, she discovered that shapes—simple yet profound—carry their own rhythm and energy. What often goes unnoticed in the mundane suddenly reveals itself to her, urging translation onto canvas. Among these, the triangle became her most cherished form. Drawn from vivid memories of village fairs, festive processions, and colorful market scenes, strings of tiny triangular flags—locally called patake—inspired a visual vocabulary that continues to define her artistic style.

Born and based in Nashik, Maharashtra, contemporary artist Asha Anil Phadatare has spent more than two decades immersed in the world of art. For her, painting is not a hobby or profession alone—it is an inseparable part of existence. She often describes it as a language of emotions, a way of expressing the churn of thoughts and feelings that words cannot contain.

Asha’s process is both intuitive and meditative. Hidden emotions surface gradually, taking shape in bold strokes and colors. Some works reach completion swiftly, while others linger in a state of incompleteness—each canvas carrying its own rhythm, much like life itself. She embraces this flow without seeking definite answers, allowing art to remain a mystery that nurtures her spirit.

Her practice extends beyond painting into wall art, sculptures, and oil portraits, where she experiments with mediums like fiber, oils, and acrylics. Yet, at the heart of her work lies abstraction, where vibrant compositions invite viewers to pause and rediscover the beauty in forms they might otherwise overlook.

Through her art, Asha creates not only aesthetic experiences but also a subtle reminder of joy, rhythm, and connection. Each canvas becomes a celebration of life’s simplest yet most enduring moments—shapes fluttering like sparrows, colors echoing festivities, and emotions flowing freely without boundaries.
