ABOUT CHANDRAKANT TAJBIJE
The traditional touch
Born in 1961 in Maharashtra, India, visual artist Chandrakant Tajbije is known for his evocative and culturally rich figurative paintings. A graduate in Art (A.T.D., G.D. Art), he has spent decades refining his artistic expression, deeply rooted in Indian traditions yet boldly modern in approach.
Tajbije’s work reflects a profound engagement with Indian spiritual and folk heritage. Among his celebrated themes is Nandi, the sacred bull and devoted mount of Lord Shiva. In Indian mythology, Nandi represents purity, patience, and piety—virtues upheld across centuries of sacred art, from Harappan seals and Ajanta-Ellora frescoes to temple icons across the subcontinent. Nandi is not merely a visual motif but a living symbol of the four pillars of faith: Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanti (Peace), and Prema (Love).
In his recent series, Chandrakant Tajbije brings Nandi to life through a dynamic blend of folk, tantric, and symbolic elements. His stylized compositions, rendered in vibrant acrylics, showcase an imaginative use of bold color schemes and layered textures. These works breathe with energy and reverence, casting a visual spell that draws viewers into a meditative space—where seeing is feeling and being.
Tajbije’s artistic repertoire also includes numerous series on Buddha, where he explores serenity and introspection with equal depth and finesse. Whether painting deities, symbolic icons, or contemplative figures, his art serves as a bridge between tradition and modernity, myth and meaning.
Through his work, Chandrakant Tajbije offers not only aesthetic pleasure but a spiritual invocation—an inspired journey into the heart of Indian culture.
